Pusha T On Kanye’s Recent Controversies: ‘It’s Disappointing’

Pusha T has stood by Kanye West’s side for over a decade and now serves as the president of his G.O.O.D. Music imprint.

While he continues to support him as a collaborator, King Push condemned Ye for his recent actions which he deemed “disappointing” in a recent sit-down with The Los Angeles Times.

“It’s definitely affected me,” he said of Kanye’s antics. “It’s been disappointing. As a Black man in America, there is no room for bigotry or hate speech. So yeah. It’s been very disappointing, let’s talk straight.”

However, on the creative side, Pusha T gushed about working with Ye on his It’s Almost Dry album, which Kanye produced half of.

“Writing and recording with Ye is a very special thing for me,” he said. “We actually have a lot of the same taste, we love just barred-out rap. He would tell me things like, “Man, you just be the extreme version of yourself. And I’m gonna be the extreme version of myself.

“Creatively, Ye has meant freedom to me. A lot of times, people would try to get me to change certain things about my process, change certain things about me lyrically, change certain things about the content. He never has been like that. He always saw me for who I was and knew how to take it to the next level.”

It’s Almost Dry debuted atop the Billboard 200 in April and is nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

King Push took to Instagram earlier this month to toast to his Grammys nod, while paying respect to some of his musical peers and predecessors who have also been nominated for awards in the past without having to sell out.

“To be Grammy nominated hits a little different when you are unapologetically you,” he wrote in his caption next to photos of DiddyJAY-Z, Ol’ Dirty BastardClipseThree 6 MafiaFat JoeBig Pun and The-Dream shining at various awards shows over the years.

“We don’t beg anyone. We walk and talk the same regardless of the company or room we are walking in… Some of the people in this post are Grammy winners, some not. The one thing we all have in common is that we are the realest version of ourselves and we made you love it.”

He added: “Thank you @recordingacademy voters for this nomination… #ITSALMOSTDRY RAP ALBUM OF THE YEAR… #UNAPOLOGETICALLYME.”

As for Kanye, he’s set on continuing his campaign where he will be running for president once again during the 2024 election.

    1. Pusha’s is the newest face in the group of figureheads being used to discredit Ye’s message to the people. Ye’s Drink Champs interview reminded us of the static narrative of guns and drugs that has been persistently used to divide black Jew communities. Pusha has profited from cocaine raps and been awarded for it. His position is compromised like so many other celebs with “black excellence.” The architects of the system are smart. They’ll send your own people to distract or break you down . Hence it’s people like him that are being given the greatest audience to dismantle the true message for the masses by the media.

      1. Peace talk. I don’t think Pusha is being “pushed…” (you see what I did there ;)) BUT I feel as an artist, regardless of content, did make a pact with Ye. Comradely it’s all about making money, being successful. But Ye is jeopardizing the house he built with his antics. So what if Push spits about his Coke days? People still try to do so with Hov. Jay Z laments about it on record. You can’t tell me you Angeluc and have a clean slate in life. Bc if you did, you wouldn’t judge at all. Cast the first stone if you’re clean. Only a few can, and even then, it would be the last thing on their minds. I agree with Pusha. He’s only causing problems on the mic bc he’s a ruthless emcee. And that’s at least a part of hip hop. We all made it one way to be discussing such matters, unless you’re a trolling kid, which I do not believe you are! Just my view. I can’t say, but I do believe Pusha is worried about the money flow as anybody in their right mind would…The man is president of the house that Ye built. And you know Push could’ve signed elsewhere regardless. It’s just about getting business right. You can’t upset “the plug.” That is the music industry…

      2. Point taken. The issue we have here is, all the major figures in that industry answer to the same people. Those same people are dissatisfied with Ye and are speaking with Push, so Pusha is being “pushed” whether directly or indirectly. Pusha is free to “spit about his coke days.” Nobody’s said he shouldn’t. We simply said you cannot disassociate his music from the impact it has on black Jew communities. Once guns, gangs and drugs are the mainstay of your content then you make a name for yourself and profit from it then you’re not in a position to speak. Same goes for Jay that’s why he ain’t said a word since. Conscious rappers like Ye have to lead the charge. By the way, signing with anybody is easy but finding success with the right click is hard. That’s why Push signed with Ye.

    2. Pusha!? Bro you rap about the most negative counter productive sh*t possible lol now you the voice of reason? This is hilarious smh

    3. Proponents and benefactors of the system perpetuating the ongoing Holocaust against the black Jewish communities are being used to critique them. Almost all upper class Afro American hero’s have been placed in that very position by the other Jewish people. The love of status and wealth controls their behaviour and uses their influence to keep the black vote in collective think even if its the cause of most of the problems.

    4. It’s Like Ye’s mental illness is contagious among his fans, there’s not one goddamn thing wrong with what he said. What so he’s just supposed to nod along to everything ye says regardless of how he feels or what he believes?
