        1. That explains his album being #1, 2. Everyone likes Future, only dumb folks like yourself are salty rap purism is dead as hell.

            1. Thing is im a fan of hiphop period, amoung my favs are em, royce, method man…but i also like listening to desiigner, asap gerg, and 2 chaniz sometimes. My point is as we all know and cannot argue em and cole will rap circles around furture, lil vert and whoever, we all get in those moods to listen to dumb shit sometimes, personally i dont like furture, never have. And as desiigner sounds like him, hes way more hype, fun to work out too whatever. Labeling it as black and white is dumb all this dumb niggas(black and white) go to these concerts knowinh they wont be able to understand shit but pay anyway.

    1. That’s the problem… Mumble Rap did NOT take over the “World”. Future doesn’t sell, these imbecile rappers don’t sell thats why the INdustry had to chang the rules and count Streams as sales to mask the horrible failure. Nobody actually listens to these imbeciles outside the USA. It’s the media that push these retards to the masses and give them exposure when there is no demand. Nobody asked for LIl yachty but the media keeps advertising him and pushing him, without any street hype or TALENT.

    2. Don’t waste your time on listening to HNDRXX. It’s one of the worst albums I’ve heard in a white. This guy is an overhyped rapper, you can’t even understand what he’s saying. Ask his fans to say one of his verses and they can’t even because they don’t understand what’s coming out of his mouth. He should learn how to open his mouth a little more so people can understand what he’s saying. It’s just a bunch of mumbling, plus some beats, which are not even the best.

      1. Cosign, but his illiterate fans will say “His work ethic is insane!” Work ethic? He literally auto-tunes about nothing over the same generic FL Studio trap beats. Same dumb sh*t over and over with no thought process whatsoever. You could put a donkey in the booth and produce the same, if not better, album. This isn’t music, it’s this week’s trending topic that disappears within a week’s time.

    3. Justin, thank you for this bit of history. Fuck the haters on this one. Even if you don’t fuck with Future, what DX did today was real hip-hop history. Justin talked about KEY members of the Dungeon Family; Cool Breeze is one of the most underrated and slickest rappers out of East Atlanta. Goodie Mob’s first 2 albums are southern classics. I mean, I could go on. In all honesty, I don’t know whether or not mumble rap is the result of no more styles left but I can tell you this, when you first listened to Khujo from Goodie Mob, he was NOT AT ALL the most lyrical, but his style was different and blended well with the Dungeon’s sound, as described in this video. It also makes me think of Kanye West’s “Through the Wire”. If you listen, he may not be mumbling, but he’s definitely his most coherent and people gave him shit for rapping with his jaw sewed up. Yet at the same time, they praised him for spitting that way. I think the content’s a little different being that Future doesn’t have a wired jaw and spitting similarly, but it’s funny people give him shit. Now, this is coming from a person who was not a fan of future in the beginning and still not someone who’ll go out of his way to go to a Future show, but I do respect his grind. If anything, he’s a smart player and has played his hand well. He made himself infectious and positioned himself to succeed. I don’t know if that makes his music GREAT but it does make his decision making smart and that in itself makes his persona/image attractive and when something or someone is attractive (and not in a sexual way you insecure closet homo’s) it’s hard not jump on board with what their doing: coherent, mumbling or lyricist extraordinaire!

        1. Lmao! They should pay me to be on this staff. I know I know more about hip-hop than not only most the people on this staff but on this site. Not bragging. Just #facts. Keep it moving young one. But I appreciate you reading and commenting. Keeps me commenting.

      1. Did Dungeon Family have their reverb all the way up and auto-tuned non-english words? I DONT THINK SO. Get yo fake ass hip hop head outta here. All you Future fans are posers and fakers. I can’t believe you talk about lyrics when these niggas arent even speaking ENGLISH! Helloooooooo are you retarded? Yes you are

        1. See… this is how LITTLE your fake hip-hop head having ass is. Do you remember a little song called “Watch for the Hook” off Cool Breeze’s first album? Or a song called “It’s Okay” off Slimm Calhoun’s album? FUCK… Any of Gnarles Barkley’s stuff? Andre 3000, probably the most lyrical out of Dungeon Family, voice was not only had the pitch of his voice turned all the way up but also sped up for those verses. Cee Lo’s voice was manipulated and distorted all over the Gnarles Barkley album. Oh, since I’m a fake Hip-Hop head I’m gonna not remember how much voice distortion was also used on Speakerboxx/Love Below… but I digress because your uneducated, not cultured and obviously don’t read. If you read closely, I said “coherent, mumbling or lyricist” aka it can involve all those components to how a person markets themselves. And I never once said I’m a Future fan, I said I respect his grind. But again, your immature and uneducated so you see things concretely and couldn’t comprehend the meaning of abstract. Unfortunately my friend, you’re the non hip-hop head and have no idea about it’s history, specifically it’s southern roots. And to answer your question, they may have not used auto tune specifically before Future but they’ve been using all sorts of production tools to distort, speed up, manipulate, change sound pitch, etc… for years and to some could sound like they’re not even speaking English. Do y’all even read comments, or do y’all just skim through it?

    4. I hate when haters & ignorant white boys who know very little about Black Culture/History,often drown out the comment sections on predominately black websites with spam, racism, ignorance, hate, etc. It’s ok to disagree but be logic & mature when doing so,i truly like these DX Breakdowns Justin Hunte does,i think they are the evolution of album reviews & bring the focus back on Hip Hop as opposed to the media circus around Hip Hop. I don’t like mumble rap at all because,i grew up hearing the best Hip Hop eras, plus i’ma lyricist MC myself but i do UNDERSTAND why some love it in THIS generation. That doesn’t mean its GOOD,but remember even Vanilla Ice sold 10 millions records & has a place in Hip Hop’s story.

    5. I am feeling the HNDRXX album…it is a love and heartbreak album told from Future’s perspective. Mumble rap is what it is so I don’t hate on it. Fortunately I can pick and choose what I want to listen to. If I don’t like something, I don’t listen to it. Just that simple.

    6. In short, Atlanta killed hip hop. Thanks guys, we were just recovering from the last BS southern rap movement, now we gotta deal with this shit.

      1. Preach! It’s so God awful “Yeah!” to the point “Straight Up!” that we’ve become accustomed “Yuh!” to considering this BS music “Yaaah!” Meanwhile, lyricism “Yeah!” gets pushed to the side “Straight Up!”

    7. I AM TIRED OF THIS “ITS ALL ART” BS. MUMBLE RAP IS TAKING OVER YES, BUT LETS NOT GIVE IT PROPS AND SAY IT IS GOOD. IT IS GARBAGE, TRASH. I WOULDN’T EVEN SAY IT IS DISPOSABLE MUSIC, BECAUSE IT HAS TO BE GOOD FIRST TO BE DISPOSABLE LATER. I AGREE WITH YOU ALL, THESE IDIOTS-SHIRTPULLING-DEGENERATES FROM ATLANTA KILLED HIPHOP. BUT YOU CAN BLAME THEM 100%. THE RETARDS IN ATLANTA LIKE THE SIMPLISTIC, BLAND AND PLAIN HIPHOP. WHY SHOULD THE REST OF AMERICA NOW ADOPT IT?

    8. Sorry guys but that new Future album is sick. Niggas act like each damn album has to be Nas. Yeah I liked Jay, Nas, Pac, Doom, etc. Used to pick apart Em’s lyrics and cadence and put that shit on repeat. Used to write songs that were literally copied by Em’s cadence just because he was so lyrically gifted. And after that work, I’d throw on some No Limit, some Cash Money, some Camron, etc. Some rap is simply bad – like most of Lil Boat’s catalog – but that new Future is a smash. The vibe is solid and I can have it on in the background without trying to interpret each triple entendre. Because there isn’t one on there. Doesn’t make it bad tho.

      1. Look nigga… Future is not a singer and he just released a whole album where he’s auto-tune singing. You dont need talent for that. My little 10 year old cousin can come up with better melodies and harmonies, mind I add IN ENGLISH too. Nust just some mumbo jumbo

    9. Lets be honest nothing happens unless the power that be who run what you see and what you hear and if they play it a thousand times a day a day on radio and television video shows you begin to believe this is new music they target the youth wit this less talented form of music and call it hip hop, we got one lane in hiphop today

    10. why do people keep bringing up that future is a part of dungeon family? wu-tang has cappadonna, bone thugs has wish bone, g-unit has tony yayo, the lox has sheek louch. I’m just saying each collective/group has their own weak links.
