Joey Bada$$ and former Pro Era member DeeKnows got into a heated fight in an NYC store just before Christmas.
In video captured by the store’s security cameras, the pair can be seen having an emotionally charged discussion before coming to blows both inside and outside of the location.
It’s unclear what sparked the altercation, but many fans of Pro Era expressed their disappointment to see the former friends be on such bad terms.
The incident seemingly happened on the anniversary of Pro Era member Capital STEEZ’s passing on Monday (December 23). While some fans speculated their issue could be around that, nothing is confirmed.

Capital STEEZ (real name Courtney Dewar Jr.) reportedly jumped from the roof of the Cinematic Music Group headquarters in Manhattan, New York on December 23, 2012. He posted a tweet just moments before his death that read, âThe end.â
STEEZ rose to fame alongside Joey Bada$$ thanks to their 2012 collaboration âSurvival Tacticsâ and released his first and only solo project, AmeriKKKan Korruption, that April.
In 2018, STEEZ’s family boycotted STEEZ DAY, the annual event set up by Pro Era to honor the late rapper and raise funds for his family.
âMaking it unaffordable for the real Steez fans,â STEEZâs sister, Tamara Dewar, wrote at the time. âSteezâs family will not be there and half the jokers on that stage wrote some lil shit about my brother.â
On his 2022 song âSurvivors Guilt,â Joey addressed the family, rapping:Â âAnd hereâs a message to his fam/I know yâall got emotional trauma, that I understand/But I couldnât fuck with yâall trying to tell the world I wasnât who I am/When all I ever tried to do was lend a hand.â
He also opened up about the impact that STEEZâs death continues to have on him, reflects on their relationship and even admits to feeling partly responsible for his passing.
âSTEEZY told me get âem so I got em/Now my n-gga gone, he will never be forgotten/Ever since he left Iâve just been struggling without him,â he raps, before adding, âThen I caught a little wave and headed back to shore/And thatâs when he started drowning/And he had no one around him so partially I feel itâs my fault.â
Should security be putting that out? I’m sure that’s illegal.
